About Barbara
Barbara Derrane is an Irish mosaic artist and painter, born and based on Inis Mór.
Working from her studio on the island, she creates mosaics and paintings inspired by the textures, colours, and rhythms of island life.
Using glass, smalti, ceramic, and paint, her work reflects the limestone landscape, wild Atlantic seas, shifting skies, and the quiet changes of light that define the Aran Islands. She is also drawn to the subtle colours found in nature, from wild orchids and heather to moss-covered stone and coastal grasses.
